The Kapulana is a name given for a traditional cloth in Mozambique. This cloth has many uses, but its main use is when native women wrap it around their waist as a form of skirt. The different patterns and their intricacies suggest a social status maybe? The cloth is also used to make dresses, pants, bags and to adorn hats and such. I love this cloth because of its beautiful patterns, colour and variety of its uses. When I was in Mozam, I had two garments made from the Kapulana.
There are many traditional cloths in Africa that we can begin to enjoy for example the Seshwewe print. (soon to come post)
